Night time in Leeds, and a grey day in Guildford

It feels like its been a bit quiet on here recently so here's some pics for you all to have a look at.

I've got to go to Leeds every fortnight for work now, so decided to think positive and explore new things to take photos of. The only free time I had on Wednesday night was after dark, so went out for a little wander and got these three - all handheld with ISO at 1000-1600.

#1 Chef taking a break

#2 "Enmeshed"

#3 Time to go home

This afternoon all had gone quiet on the work front so, despite it being grey and dull I had to get out and wander along the river Wey just down the road from me. This is a location I'm still exploring, but it definitely needs some better light. However - make the best of what you've got is my motto so here's a selection - all handheld with wide apertures and ISO way up.

#4 Rope roller - this is a wooden roller which was used to guide canal boat tow ropes around a particularly tight bend in the river. Without it the tow rope would cut across the corner and pull the boat into the bank.

#5 This is a bit further along the river than I've walked before. Very tranquil if a tad freezing cold. I'll ahve to go up here again I think.

#6 Quite a picturesque setting at this bridge over the river. The roller in #4 is just to the left of this pic.

#7 I like the old-style iron gate with the tracks leading to the new-style iron pylons.

Your comments are most welcome as always.

Tobersssssssssssssssssssssss

Nos. 1 & 3 for me Tobers, very nice stuff. I like the style.

So when are you going to tell us all what new gear you've bought?! I've spotted your 30D in the classifieds but I find no thread here announcing your new purchase! Not good enough damn it!

Re: Night time in Leeds, and a grey day in Guildford

My fave is #1 as well. It was one of those "wait and see what happens" shots. I felt slightly strange and exposed hanging around in this darkened smoky tunnel but veyr happy with the result. I especially like the diamond behind him and the light shining down.

Ta for the comments so far - there's nothing like going out taking pics is there.
