Ok so after much research I had decided on the Slik 700DX but adding a ballhead (yep hadnt got round to doing the research on that one yet!).

However I have just read another review which states that the 700 is better if youre above average height - now Im only 5'6" so would be keen to hear anyone elses thoughts on this in addition to whether I should instead go for the 500 or something else altogether?

Sorry for late reply - only just noticed.

As the tripod is adjustable between just 20 centimetres, and nearly 200 centrimetres, its hard to see why anyone could say it is better for someone above average height...

Surely it is suitable for anyone between 20-200 cms

I have one. And I am only 5ft 6 too.
