Autumn Canal Reflections

Just the one from today as we walked along the canal that is just down the road from where I was lived as a nipper. I have very fond memories of sledging down the hill to the right of the frame as a kid and nearly ending up in the canal on a particularly good run!

Yep, it's a duck I think. I didn't even notice it when I took the shot

Re: Autumn Canal Reflections

yep - great shot, perfect exposure.

I agree a perfectly still river may have improved it, but it's still very nice indeed.

Re: Autumn Canal Reflections

That's a great pic, the sky has come out really well, i'm split over the duck though, if the duck wasn't there the picture wouldnt be as good (still good, but the duck is cool), but because the duck is there the water ripples and disturbs the peace, but if the duck wasnt there then it wouldnt be as good, but the water would have been still, im beginning to confuse myself now so i'll stop

Re: Autumn Canal Reflections

I'm kind of glad the duck is causing so much discussion as it takes the attention away from the elephant on the hill which I think is far more dominant

Re: Autumn Canal Reflections

REALLY nice shot steve, it's got a great balance to the composition

But I do think a family of ducks would of taken to shot to the next level!

Re: Autumn Canal Reflections

Nice picture (the first one).
Interesting off centre, one point vanishing perspective, it that is what it is called!
The duck adds life on the one hand but possibly spoils the reflections on the other. Ain't life a bitch?

Nice photo Steve, but somehow seems to lack interest and meaning without a duck in it

Why not ask Tobers if he'll lend you the use of his Crow Steve?

That second shot is nice but I think I would have been tempted to get closer and make more of the bridge.

I actually remembered the bridge a lot more fondly than it looked when we got there, it was much more overgrown than it should have been and not as photogenic as I had hoped.....in fact I didn't even try and take a photo of it. This one was more to do with the colours and I admit it is a very busy photograph.
