Scenic Orton Effect

steve green's attempts at the Orton Effect has made me want to try it for myself.
This is my first effort using Elements 5 having followed a web tutorial.

C&C would be welcome.

Re: Scenic Orton Effect

I do like the Orton effect for landscape shots and this is a good use of it. My only advice would be to get the exposure right first, as the first stage (applying the screen mode) will make it overexposed particularly in the sky as has happened here. Always worth combining two images to get the overall exposure right, then apply the effect afterwards

Re: Scenic Orton Effect

I think I'm missing something ... the first one (in particular) is challenging my powers of deduction.

Re: Scenic Orton Effect

Great stuff. Like the second one, the exposure for the sky is much more balanced.

FYI... thought this was worth sharing.....

A better (IMO) Orton process than the one posted above, can be found here...

http://www.flickr.com/groups/orton/d...7600778543925/

Which is a link to this.. "Orton Effect Tutorial"
http://mosa.unity.ncsu.edu/photos/orton/

This one uses the three layer technique (don't think the Nature Photo uses 3 layers) and even comes with a downloadable PS macro to automate creating the layers! Looks very similar to the one posted on YouTube, which I struggled to follow.

Re: Scenic Orton Effect

One more. Probably my favourite of the three. I really like the 'warm' effect it's had on the rocks & pebbles.
