Canon lens hood availability

I ordered a ET 65B lens hood months ago from cameras2u (it actually took me ages to remember where I ordered it from). They have telephoned and emailed me a few times to tell me it was still out of stock. Does anyone know of anywhere that has it in stock at a decent price. WEX seem to have it at £32.99 but I saw it at £18 IIRC. One site I visited this evening, says in stock then has something in the small print saying that is incorrect. Why is it so hard to come by, it's only a lens hood?!! Alternatively, can anyone suggest a decent substitute lens hood for the EF70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM ?

Re: Canon lens hood availability

have a look at digitalrev on ebay, I got a canon hood for 70-300 last week, took around a week to arrive

Also check one stop digital, they are supposed to be pretty good.

Ebay will have lots of non canon versions too.

Re: Canon lens hood availability

Whilst you are waiting for your lens hood to arrive, why don't you use these free ones in the short term.

They are free and disposable

Here they are

Re: Canon lens hood availability

For reference, I went through the same pain for a hood for my 17-55. In the end I bought one labeled "For Canon" from somewhere in HongKong via eBay for about £4. Looks just the same, build quality not quite so good but OK for the purpose, and arrived in about 4 days.
