Fireworks, recommended settings with monopod?

I'm hopefully going to photograph the fireworks tonight, but will be bringing the monopod instead of the tripod due to the crowds, i'll be using my sigma 17-70 or niftyfifty, what settings would you recommend, I am thinking something like iso 200, 1/10, f8.

Re: Fireworks, recommened settings with monopod?

ISO 100 should suffice since fireworks are pretty bright and show up well against a dark sky.

I guess the shutter speed is a bit of trial and error, but a mate of mine got some really good shots just using the bulb setting and holding the shutter open for as long as the firework lasted (he was also using a monopod).

Make sure you post up some of the results!

Was there any horizontal motion blur using the monopod with a long shutter speed?

That time of year already

Here's the Fireworks thread from last year, I'm positive there'll be something useful in there for us all in the coming days

No the ones he posted on flickr look pretty good, I think he said he just sat the camera on the monopod, raised it up above head height (he was in a crowd), lent it against his shoulder and fired away.

You can see them in his set here if you're interested.
