Re: Wilderness

That re-work is really nice, so much better than the first one IMO. Nice foreground interest and a dramatic sky

I was experimenting with different things in Elements 5. I darkened the sky - converted the foreground to B&W then changed the blending mode to overlay. And added diffuse glow filter. Or something along those lines. Can't remember exactly.
Cheers for the comments.

Re: Wilderness

Like the higher ground one Mr.P if the PP'd version had the original foreground and trees it would be a great shot

I tried that but I wasn't so sure about it because I felt that the picture as a whole was unbalanced with the processed sky and the natural and somewhat unstriking looking land.
I'll give it another go though and give it a second opinion.

Maybe if you could find out what you did with the sky, then you could copy the foreground and do the same effect as the sky?just i think that the foreground is a bit too dark and could do with a bit more brightness.

No doubt I'll give it another whirl through Elements.

Just two months you say? Aye, and the Queen is really a shape shifting lizard.

Re: Wilderness

There ya go, rizingstar.

I do still prefer the completely processed one. I think the slighly darkened foreground adds to the mood of the picture and leaves it more balanced overall.
Though the more I look at the most recent one the more I like it.

Re: Wilderness

And one more from today.
An attempt to add a bit of mood and atmosphere to a fairly normal photograph.
Applied a dark red gradient in Elements and decreased the opacity and then fiddled about with a few other sliders.
Edit - vignette effect applied also.

C&C welcome..

Re: Wilderness

And finally...

I made the foreground darker intentionally.

Thoughts welcome.
