Brooklands Museum

Had a day off yesterday and decided to go and have a look at the Brooklands Museum. One of the pleasant surprises was that they have a Concorde on exhibition.

Surely one of the most beautiful man made objects

The sharp end

Frontal view

2 of the 4 engines

The flight deck

The other end is also pretty sharp

All taken with D50, Nikon 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G

Some nice pictures of my favourite plane (Vulcan bomber sharing). I thought picture '1' would look good in the "The (fake) tilt-shift miniatures thread".

This is Delta Golf, a developement plane built in 1974 and last flew in the early 80s.
They have a clear perspex pane in front of the flight deck, with a 10 inch hole for taking photos.
It is small inside, not surprising given the slim fuselage.

I went on the same plane as you, didn't look very comfortable if you could afford to fly by it back then. I think it's the one that holds the record for the fastest transatlantic crossing by a concorde as well

Re: Brooklands Museum

This is a part of the cabin they have reconstructed. The seats are the last type used on the BA Concordes and looked and felt about the same as business class on modern planes with good leg and arm room. Besides, you weren't in them for too long.

Re: Brooklands Museum

The one in New York they wouldn't even let you near the seats, it was part of the agreement or something they had with BA with regards giving the museum in New York the plane.
