No expert here and not very good at being a critic.

Re: Pictures around Bournemouth

The first and third I like - the third with the sun rays is the best out of the bunch IMO. All very nice photos again.

I'll vote for number one, as it used to be my back garden when I lived in Branksome Wood Road

Thank you all for your comments, I'd be interested in more, as there is a reason I posted these pictures & I will reveal all later.

Re: Pictures around Bournemouth

The first has really nice colours but the top section needs cropping out to get rid of the dark area top left (a bridge maybe?)

The second is a nice image but it doesn't really have a focal point and the sky blow out doesn't help.

The third is also a nice image though I would crop top and right to get rid of the red berries and the highlighted leaf. I find both of these elements distracting to the main point of the photo which is the lovely light rays you have captured.

The fourth doesn't do a great deal for me personally. The horizon isn't straight and the leading line of the handrail is too far on the right hand side to be useful to the composition of the shot.

The fifth shot is a lovely sunset, however, I would either clone out the two vans at the bottom or crop it off completely leaving the horizon on the third

The last is quite nice too, only thing for me is thatb the colour of the water looks completely unnatural.

Nice selection overall which could be made much nicer with a few adjustments

Re: Pictures around Bournemouth

Thank you Steve for taking the time to analise the pictures. You actually noticed things I didn't.

Well anyone know what the theme here is, other than around Bournemouth?
Here are a few more. As some liked the 'Sun through the Tree's' & the 'Sunset' here are a couple more.

Sunset over the River Stour.

Sun through Tree's 2

River Bourne through the Upper Gardens

Branch over the River Stour 2.

Yes, it's the way they came out pf Photomatix, but if I turned the colour down too much it lost some magic, at least to me.

Well anyone guess what the thread is about. These pictures are a clue.

Re: Pictures around Bournemouth

I'll have a guess - is it to demonstrate that you can still take decent pictures on an old 2MP digicam ?

Probably way off the mark......

Ahoy!

As you have been kicking around my neck of the woods . . . you might like to get around to the river Stour and Avon in Christchurch. Some beautiful river shots to be had there. Also, Beaulieu in the New Forest. Scenes to die for. I am a lucky bugger living down here, though should really make more of the natural beauty of the countryside that surrounds me.

Actually you are quite close. These pictures were taken 5 to 6 years ago. The camera take as good pictures today. But I was going through some old pictures & thought I'd post them. It's surprising how good a 2 MP camera was.

Yes you are right, I love the area & if the weather is good, I try to go out & take pictures in Christchurch.

Good stuff - I think I was a bit unluckier with my 2MP camera a few years back - I had a Polaroid 2070 and it was sometimes like taking a photo back in the Victorian days - it seemed to take ages to actually take a picture, and no one could move until it had finished

It used to eat batteries as well, as I recall.

I think I've still got it somewhere in my desk - I might try and find it and see what it can do....

Thought so.... I knew they weren't recent as Boscombe pier is still intact in the pic called 'Sunset' and for the last six months or so it has had cranes all over it and is now half that length! Nice pics tho, especially given the camera used.
