Sunday morning Football - first work out for the Mark III

Shot 131 frames, first work out with my new Mark III and the first soccer I have shot since May/June this year. Camera seems OK. Has netted me some nice pix. ISO 400, exposes well. Oddly, the in camera sharpening is more liberal than my old Mark II N's, which neither good nor bad. For some reason the hosts I use to show my images seem to have added more compression to the site and images dont look as good as they should....

Comments welcome.

Very nice work there Pete, you've caught some great action.
They look great, despite the small file sizes.

Are you finding the increased frame rate helpful for this type of shooting? I expect it'll bag you even more action shots than the Mk II.

Looks like the lighting was pretty favourable today. The exposures look spot on.

Thanks. To be honest, I always found that 8.5 on the N's was fast enough. I went for one of these as I wanted the improved high ISO as have a fair bit of winter work coming in and decided why not, you only live once.

They all look super sharp Pete and well exposed, even to the point of being able to see the black stripes in the black shorts

Did the 40D go in the end then?

Nice sharp shots! No problems with focus in AI Servo mode then?

Steve,

Yes - the two 40D's I had both had front focusing issues in my set up so decided to stump up and get the III as my last big camera buy (until next time)

Cracking work, but then I'm beginning to see you'd achieve great stuff with a box brownie!!

Perfect timing, some of the images have both players off the ground.

Just shows you want a good lens does.
