The light was really nice a few nights back on the way home from work so I stopped to take some pics, let me know what you think.

And this was into the sun, in hind sight I should have gotten closer to the fence but there was a big ditch and I couldn't be bothered getting wet feet. And one of the sheep didn't line up for the sun rays, maybe I should PS it over a bit

And I was playing around the other day taking close ups of my old watch

This was from last weekend, the sky lit up so I just stuck the camera out the loft window, came up quite nice

1,2: The DoF doesn't really work that well. The first one is a nice try but and the foreground and sky are great but the middle distance is neither nice and blurry or in focus.

3: I like the rays of light a lot but there just doesn't seem to be enough other stuff going on and the sheep are so small.

4: Lovely and crisp focus where it counds on the writing and centre. I can't decide if I want a little more or less DoF but it's a very nice shot none the less.

5: Cracking sky. Absolutely gorgeous colours and I love the framing. I think there's a little artifact in the bottom left you could remove (I've tried scratching it off my monitor and that didn't work) and a less obvious light patch in the bottom right. The buildings lose some definition in the bottom right because of the grey cloud but that's just nit picking on a lovely image.

Was done with a G9 in macro mode, I don't have a hug control over DOF, with a SLR would the effect your describing be down to the lense you picked? Gives me something to think about anyways, I can see what your saying

Yeah, I pushed the levels on PP here as it was, not the best photo in the world now I think about it.

I must have taken 50 shots of this at different angles, lighting etc but this was one of the first ones and nothing I did after looked better

Yes, I see the little artifact now you mentioned it, I also cropped the picture to 3x2 loosing area from the bottom of the picture, gave it strong contrast curves, clarity etc an also ran it through NR software as it was slightly noisy.

Anyways, thanks for all the comments, some good things for me to think about

Just realised where Garry lives.... The skies up there are really special. Nothing like down south. They seem to go on forever. It was the one thing that struck me most when I was last up North.
