Printing at home

Hi all

Having trouble printing at home, I cant seem to get a exact copy of the picture i took. What happens is that the print looks washed out in colour or if its black and white then it has extra shadow and looks shaded.

I have tried using CS3 to print from and printer settings.

Do you guys thing it would be worth investing in a high quality printer or just pay someone to print for me???

Re: Printing at home

What printer and paper are you using? A properly calibrated fifty quid printer and decent photo paper should give extremely good results.

Re: Printing at home

Im in the camp of get someone to do it to be honest.

Wifey bought me a Canon Selphy ES1 for last Christmas, which is brilliant, as good as the labs for 20p a print, and most of them go to friends and family or on the fridge.

I have an old R200, use compatible ink and cheap Sunday market paper for little bits, but to be honest Photobox, Snapfish and even Asda instore are so good and consistent now I use them more and more.

I also have no desktop at home, just a 12" powerbook so editing and colour matching is not the easiest either.

Like I say, horses for courses, just looking at getting some A1 posters done, from some montage stuff I have been working on in PS, Can you go wrong for £15?
