Thanks for the comments. You also have images that you will like and then when you put them on flick they do nothing.

Still trying to work that one out.
I just notice that a 350D is going on the cheap on the forum, shame I am on holiday this weekend as I would have went for it. As that is what I want, a compact is fine, a bridge is even better. But to get the images that are in my head I need a dslr. That is not taking anything away from any other camera that I have had, Its just I am pushing myself and a dslr will allow me that freedom.
One point that I have found is that 'most' compacts and bridge cameras are limited regarding f stops from 2.8 - 8

That is what I have found out using Sony models.
