70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM or similar.

Is this the 70 - 300mm lens people are talking about ?

http://www.abc-digital-cameras.co.uk...5_6-is-usm.htm

Not sure if allowed to post that link ?

If not please let me know and i'll remove it.

I have the 17 - 55mm f/2.8 at the moment and want something else to add more reach.

Any recommendations ?

Alex.

Yeah that's probably the one.

Also worth taking a very serious look at is the Canon 70-200 range. You can get them in F2.8 or F4 and with or without IS. For the same money you could get the Canon 70-200 F4L

Re: 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM or similar.

It's a cracking lens and very popular. It's out of stock there though as it is many places. Canon can't keep up with the demand.

I might be selling mine tomorrow night. Unforseen money circumstances so it looks like my 70-300 and 50 1.4 will have to be sold The 70-300 is only a few months old and in as new condition. I'll let you know if I stick it up for sale in the non av section

Re: 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM or similar.

Thanks you, i'd appreciate that.

I had considered the 70 - 200mm and would prefer the L range of lens but I think I'd need the extra reach.

If I was going to go the L way I'd have to go all out on the f/2.8 so I could use it indoors for weddings (not professionally) but my level of photography does not warrant that at the moment.

Has anyone got any examples of the 70 - 300mm in action ?

Just took delivery of this lens today. Ordered from One Stop last Thursday. Can't wait to try it out after all the good reviews.

Re: 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM or similar.

I have it, and like it a lot. I had some motorsports shots before but I've removed them from my webspace to save space. i'll put some back up tonight if I remember.

a few more here - the outdoor shots are with the 70-300

I wanted it for the extra reach, and IS. Its only 1 stop slower than the 70-200f4L and the quality is still very good to me
