Most photographed sunset ever? Probably.

Bank Holiday Sunday we decided to take an evening trip to Ogmore-by-Sea to give our old dog Trefor a nice walk along the shore. I put the cameras in the car just in case but when we got there it looked as if the light was going to remain quite stark and colourless. Getting into the car park we were very lucky to find a space, there were hundreds of people walking. As the sun started to set there was still no colour in the sky then suddently as it just touched the horizon it was as if someone had drawn a red gel across the sky. It was quite amazing and happened extremely quickly.

I have never seen so many cameras, small digitals, SLRs and cameras phones appear at the same time. Everyone it seems, had a cameras and was photographing the scene. I managed to get my camera set up on the tripod, probably at the heighth of the colour and get a couple of shots off. Then it was gone as quickly as it came and all the cameras disappeared.

Time: 2024, 3/10 sec, f16, 100asa ND Grad 9 used on sky. (f stop, film speed and ND remain the same for every shot).

Time: 2034, 3 second exposure

Time: 2042, 15 second exposure

Lovely sunset there. The smooth rocks on #2 and #3 are great. 3 is definitely my fave.

I'd like to have seen the light from #1 on the composition of #2 and #3, but I guess the sun waits for no photographer

I was down the pub last night as the sun set. It was just superb. And who didn't have their camera with them

Actually, #2 or #3 portrait style would be even better...

The colours of #1 make it the winner for me. I would have prefered it with a longer exposure to make the water softer but apart from that it's lovely.

The first one for me too. I like the compostion of the rocks leading in the direction of the sun. And I like where the sun is placed.

No 1 is stunning. We see this shot attempted all the time but you've really hit the nail on the head capturing the colour on the water.
