Thought i would try to take some Landscape photo

Your comments and views would be really appreciated.

Re: My Weekend Part 2

Sorry, but although I think they are nice photos there is nothing there that really grabs my eye. Now I am only a novice so take what I say with a pinch of salt, but I would have looked to include something in the foreground as a bit of "visual interest".

I am now prepared to be flamed!

Regards

John

Re: My Weekend Part 2

Landscape images don't always have to have foreground detail - but it helps. These are indeed nice photographs. The second works better IMO as you have a nice layered effect.

I think johnaalex makes a fair point though - some foreground interest would improve them no end, even if it's just a gate, or hedge leading the eye into the distance.

Keep it up!

Re: My Weekend Part 2

Sorry, but I have to agree - nice enough photos, but nothing that grabs me.

Maybe a dramatically coloured sunset sky would really make them complete or a focal point of interest.

Second photo is my pick of the 2.

You have most of the elements correct in my view. They are both well exposed and well composed considering what you had to work with. The second landscape shots is the better of the two as you have some nice lines prior to the focal point of the shot which is the hill.

I think landscapes can be quite difficult to get right as you have to work with what the area you are in presents you with, you can't move stuff about etc so the only variables you have is your position and the light available. Of course the second is as important as the first. Early morning or late evening light (the 'Golden Hour') is obviously the best chance of getting a more varied image but it's not always 'convenient to be there at those times, but, if you do manage to get there then it is generally worth the effort
