Went for a walk into town tonight to meet a few of the guys form the local camera club before it starts in September. We wandered around a couple of spots taking photos, but the light and cloudy skies were against us realy

I did however take a few shots of the local church reflected in the river. When I got home and started sifting through them, I thought they might look OK as a panorama. I stiched them together, and it's not too bad. There quite a few glaring mistakes (sky is blown in top half, the angles don't quite match, and the church is wonky) but I kind of like it.

I'm definately going to go back take the tripod and do it again with the intention of doing it properly

I really like the composition, but as you say, the blown sky is a shame (especially as we can see some detail in the reflected sky).
It's always tough exposing for panoramas when the light is very different accross the scene though.

Thanks. I think a polariser is definately next on the shopping list. But I'm guessing that I'll need it on for the top half, and then take it off to shoot the reflection (from what I've read the polariser will reduce the reflection, so I'll be able to see through the water).

If you get a circular polarizer you may just be able to turn it as you move over the reflection. It's not something I've tried though.
Do you shoot RAW? If so you may be able to get the sky back from converting it to a lower exposure.
