Question Another, Which Software Question-Photoshop 7/Elements 5/Canon Software.

Finally sorted out the equipment.
Now for some advise and help

Do I continue using Photoshop 7, or do I use the supplied Canon Imaging software or BUY Elements 5.
I have not really used editing software, so am not sure the pros and cons etc.

Any advise would most welcome.

Thanks, Steve

Your call really. Personally, I tweak up the RAW files in DPP, and then export them as JPGs before giving them a final run through in either Paint Shop Pro or Elements 5.

You could also get the free Adobe Camera Raw & DNG Convertor which will let you mess with the RAW files directly in Elements. I haven't actually gotten around to testing this yet though.

The Canon DPP (which I like) is free and although it looks stark at first, it is Excellent
It doesn't aim to replace a Photo Editor like PS.
Im a bit unsure as to why you would need Elements5 if you have PS7.. though?

I have Elements5 and CS2/3 but I didn't have to actually buy them..My "not so generous" employer did! But TBH I haven used CS3 more than 2-3 times as I find Elements very handy
Id have stuck quite happily stuck with PSE4 and CS and DPP if Id had to shell out
Saying that , Elements 5 is quite affordable

Another for PSE5. Also worth checking out Phase One's Capture One LE if using RAW. A free copy is available with Sandisk Extreme III cards.
