Re: Reflections and......

Very nice pair! And each one alone too. Great shots!
1st reminds me of a puddle shot in the Peterson 'creatively' book.

Re: Reflections and......

Hi Steve - I really like your photo of the day series. Great idea, I look forward to them each day (sad but true!).

#1 gets it for me. The apparent texture difference between the water, the background gravel/tarmac, and the criss-cross metal grid reflection is very nice.

#2 doesn't please my eye so much for some reason. Not sure why...

Re: Reflections and......

I prefer #1 - much moodier and I love the contrast of texture's.

I find the writing in #2 a bit distracting - still trying to decide what it says!!
I'll blame the Chav's for that though and not you!!

Re: Reflections and......

I agree about the graffiti, a nice smooth finish to the door would have made the shot IMO. I might go back tomorrow and try a different door.........mind you, it is a Saturday so it might be a bit busier........I got enough funny looks today when I was photographing some steps that ran up the side of the building, no good because of the sky contrast but a re-visit is a definite for that shot

Thanks for the comments

Re: Reflections and......

Thanks all. I must admit to being a bit confused about the apparent depth of field in the first. It was shot at f/5 but the depth seems to be quite near the top of the image and the lower half looks more OOF than I thought it would.

Great stuff Steve. Both really great shots, but I'm particularly impressed with the composition in no. 2

Re: Reflections and......

Really like the first - the uniform lines fighting with the random nature of the puddle as well as the whole dark v light thing going on.

Wouls have made a nice comp entry

Does anybody else see the victorian lady pulling a 3 wheel cart full of frozen chikens?

Now you come to mention it, yes I do. Although going by their size, I'd reckon on them being turkeys.

Never even considered it as a comp entry........too late now anyway.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have two photos in mind for today but whether I will get them is another thing entirely!
