Cool 1st sale on iStockphoto

Bizarrely, I seem to have sold a pic on iStockphoto. I haven't received an email or anything like on Fotolia - I just happened to have a peek at my pics to see if any had been viewed. I've only uploaded 5 pics so wasn't expecting any to be bought.

The one I sold was a pic of a rather large (4lb) trout I caught a few weeks ago (alert members will remember the "River Test" pics I posted up). It wasn't the best composed one of the series as I'd cut the fish's tail out of the frame, but it had a nice rod & reel blurred in the background with shallow DOF.

It's this one....

Well, that's $0.84 for me then :-)

Happy days...I'll have to upload some more.

Tobers

Re: 1st sale on iStockphoto

Nice one Tobers - I set up an account a while ago and still haven't uploaded anything.

Fotolia occasionaly inform me of sales, but certainly not every time. I went back and rest my preferences to make sure, still no joy.

Re: 1st sale on iStockphoto

I've just found a little utility ("widget") on iStockphoto which sits on your desktop and keeps you informed of views, downloads etc without having to go to the iStockphoto website.

I'll be interested in others views, but iStockphoto seems more robust than Fotolia (certainly recently), I seem to be getting more views per pic even though I've only got 5 pics there, but it's a bit harder to use, upload etc.

Well done Tobers.

With your sales from Fotolia and now this you should be able to pick yourself a 5D this time next year

Re: 1st sale on iStockphoto

Thanks! I'm after a 1Ds Mk2 actually. Might take some time at Fotolia prices
