A walk in the park - what a lovely evening.

Went out for a walk at Charly Brocket's old pad tonight, didn't realise the public were allowed in but this guy on Flickr told me how to get in

Anyway, I didn't have my kit with me as we were just going for a short walk. It's a place to revisit I reckon.

Comments welcome!

Anyway, here's my faves:

The Course:

HDR due to not having my grad filter, and forgot my lens hood so I got some flare too but I still think it has a quirky charm.

The Golfer:

Brocket Hall:

Waterfall - wish I had an ND filter with me to make the water smooth and nice

More over at my flickr if you fancy a gander.

Nice shots those. I particularly like the last 2.
The hall revealed behind the willows(?) shows the grandeur and scale of these old english estates.

I like the composition in the last one, especially how you've caught the light on the underside of the bridge, and the lines give it a nice perspective too.
A step to the right and forward would have maybe made it better - but only if you don't end up falling in the water!
Great shot in any case.

Nice pics, i have been in there by hopping over the little fence from the public footpath from the layby just past the crooked chimney.
that was a few years ago and there is a dog graveyard in the woods with headstones for all the family dogs that have died, stretching back to the 1800,s

Hi thanks for that feedback. I am definitely going to head back there one night this week when it's a nice evening.

Any specific reason you think it would look better if I stepped forward and to the right - genuine question - I'm always looking to improve my game

Some very nice shots there horribleman, I commented on number 4 on your flickr.. very very good, but would love to see it with a rising/setting sun, the bridge would capture the colours wonderfully as would the water - May be worth revisiting with the ND filter at dawn or dusk, you could change the angle so that you get the arches reflected in the still water under the bridge

Some beautiful detail captured under the arches too.

I was thinking it might give a better view of the sunlit underside of the arches, which to me are one of the key successes in this photo. Also you could place the foreground bush up against the left-hand side of the frame.

It's probably a good scene for some HDR treatment too or an ND grad filter - your sky is almost blown out, but if you stop down you might lose what little detail there is in that shaded foreground greenery.

Yup - got my Cokin adapter now, so I have a light grey grad filter to use.

Anyone know how long before or after the official sunset time you get the lovely light? Is it before or just as it sets?

Thanks!

The first and last hours of sunlight are the golden hours. So get there at least a good hour before the quoted time! Not sure you'll need an ND filter, the light should be nice and soft, but a few extra grams won't hurt just in case.

Re: A walk in the park - what a lovely evening.

I like the last one particularly, very nice and it might be worth re-visiting when it's darker (no need for a ND filter then ) #2 looks to be well over saturated to me.

Re: A walk in the park - what a lovely evening.

I did bump up the saturation a bit too much there I thought it made it look nice and warm, but I think you are right.
