CANON A710 IS or F31FD? ?

I am looking for a new digital camera - I only have an old 1.3 mpixcel one!
I did borrow a ex z 70 casio for my holiday which was pretty good!

budget - around £150 - £200 - looking for a mixture of point and shoot and a
bit of manual control

Hence my decisions fallen to Canon A710 IS or FUJU F31FD

Who has either of these and are you pleased with them.
What do you think?

they have a £50 cash back on the casio this weekend - so its pretty tempting. I like the idea of colour control, etc and the 6 x zoom.
SD card - this is better for our TV.

whereas the fuji is good in poor light conditions and also daylight.
meant to be quick, easy and good quality. Only XD card though!

anyway thanks for any advice.

Re: CANON A710 IS or F31FD? ?

I have the Fuji, Good points Well made metal body,
low light pictures without flash are amazing,
LCD is V clear and bright.
Battery life V good

Bad points thicker heavier than many similar compacts, no good for shirt pocket
If left on auto tends to set a very high ISO even in bright light, causing unnecessary grain and Noise reduction, "can be overrided" I use the up to ISO 400 on the manual setting.

Bottom line is if low light photography is not that important to you, you will find better spec camera for the price.

I had the Canon, excellent camera, very small, fits in a pocket easily. Has a few things the Fuji doesnt, like an optical viewfinder, image stabilisation and 6x optical zoom. Looks like the Fuji is better in low light though.

Have a look at www.dpreview.com they are both reviewed there.
