My Manchester Wheel

The below is something I managed to capture yesterday, this image has always been a pain for me. The reason many, so after me having a long spell away from the camera I decided that some early morning images would do the trick.

This is why I love having my camera with me and having the ability to now take pictures again. Yes I did go along period of just having my camera with me but never taking any images.

Re: My Manchester Wheel

I really like it. I love the lack of context. In fact I'm struggling to see how you could have found this angle, without just getting the underneath of all the cabins. Nice job.
I don't know whether it's my eyes, but it might be worth putting a grid/guidelines over the image and making sure the wheel is perfectly vertical (I use Edit>Transform>Distort in Photoshop to correct when necessary).

Great image

Re: My Manchester Wheel

Good colour in the sky and interesting composition but it isn't obvious enough what it is and equally not particularly aesthetically pleasing even as an abstract. It also seems to be leaning a little. Is it cropped? Viewed large on your flickr it does look a bit better. Certainly very sharp. It's a shame there isn't more space between the metalwork.
I see what you're trying but, on this occasion, it just doesn't quite work for me.
Like your Manchester run one.

Re: My Manchester Wheel

Thanks for the above comments, to me I think its down to the angle of the image and the subject. The wheel is on a street that seems to slope both ways, it also seems to sit an a slight angle.

The only thing I did was cropped the image to 1024 x 768, leveled the image based on the signs on side of the wheel I leveled the image based on these and left it the way it was, maybe its a touch off but thats it.

It also follows this image:

Re: My Manchester Wheel

Really like the London eye one, pixel. The angle, space between the structure. Was it a grey day? Whatever, the overall 'wash' gives it a real sci-fi feel befitting the subject.
