Open air brass band this afternoon

Had a ride out on my motorbike today with my camera bag slung over my shoulder - on the lookout for anything interesting to photograph. A good way to enjoy two hobbies at once

Anyway, I saw a crowd on the green in Godalming and went to investigate. I found a brass band playing on the bandstand - very good they were too.

There was quite a crowd there, and I was a bit worried about looking overly conspicuous. In the end, I stuck my nice white 70-200 on and strolled around nice & purposeful like, and shot away. I think it's more demonstrating confidence than anything else - people will assume you are meant to be there. I just decided to be conspicuous anyway, but in a determined but "seen it all before" sort of way. I had no problems at all.

The band have asked for the photos for their web site which is a nice result

Hahahaha! There were a few of the audience who looked like they were overdue a visit to that churchyard

I agree with you Steve, great shot even with the Church in the centre.

Ta - I was going for the "pyramid up to heaven" composition arrangement there and completely ignoring any nonsense about thirds.

I did have another one with the church at the side but it didn't look very balanced.

That 3rd one is really nice mate, the sky is fantastic although the middle of the picture appears a little dark ??

Re: Open air brass band this afternoon

Interesting photographs. I like the sky in the last one as well.

Combining motorbiking with photography. Great idea. Mind you I had enough trouble convincing my wife about the latter, I don't think I'd have any chance with the former! Maybe I'll get my mountain bike out and take it from there!?

Cheers.

Ta - bit of an HDR job on that one actually. It's shadowy as I was shooting into the sun. Processed a bit randomly to be honest - still experimenting with Lightroom - not my best
