I have the Sigma APO 300 but haven't tried the macro shot yet. How far away were you with the macro shots?

Hi icemanlonline - thanks for your comments. I just used Adobe Photoshop!! Increased the size of the canvas, filled the background with black and then put a 5px white stroke around the image.
I was about 2-3 metres from the subject in each case.

Mod comment: Pls resize no 1, you can always link a smaller image to this big impressive one |
Sorry senu, I had set the width to the landscape shots to 750 and then just automatically set the width of the first one to 750 instead of the height!! SORRY!

Some minor thoughts:
#1 I love the main purple flower. I don't find the lower part of the image as pleasing though. Lovely background with nothing to distract the eye.
#2 Again a great choice of angle to keep the background uncluttered. I would also like to see a similar shot with a slightly larger DOF to get more of the flower petals in focus.
#3 I think this is a cracker. Filled the frame. Lovely DOF. Focused on the centre and getting softer as you more towards the edge of the frame. Lovely shot and my favourite! Very pleasing.
Cheers. |
Thanks very much for your very valid points!
I didnt realise the DOF was so shallow until I downloaded it! I agree with you though!
Thanks again!

Love the softness and eveness of the backgrounds. But it's the sharpness, colours and lighting which elevate them.
Really great stuff.
Edit: I'm really surprised at the shallowness of DoF to say they were on f/5.6. Is that a feature of macro modes? |
I got mine from Onestop! Excellent service from them!! This is the first time that I have really used this lens and I am pretty impressed!!
So, guys thanks for all your comments!! I appreciate them very much and look forward to more all being well!!
