Re: which shall i get

1.8, and spend the difference on some other gear (carbon fibre tripod perhaps?).

Re: which shall i get

I have the 1.8 and am very happy with it. Excellent VFM. I'd get that and spend the amount you've saved on other kit as Tobers suggested.

Re: which shall i get

Alot of people will say the 1.4 due to its better quality, and thats well and good if money is no object.
But i thinki money is better spent elsewhere, so buy the 1.8 and then spend the rest on other things for your collection.

Remember, collecting glass is very addictive and you will need al lthe money you have to buy the next lens/the next upgrade/flash/memory card etc etc

Re: which shall i get

depends on your needs, if you don't need/want any other kit then get the 1.4 as it's better build, better focusing otherwise get the 1.8 as it is good value for money and put the rest towards other kit that you may need

Re: which shall i get

I'm having a distinct feeling of Deja vu I thought we had just done the 1.8 vs 1.4 thing

Is Canon 50mm f/1.4 much better than the f/1.8?
