Some local minimal photos from yesterday (56k warning)

Hi all
Thanks to the inspiration and encouragement from Steve, Gordon, Liquid, Strobe and many others, I decided to take an hour off work yesterday and have a wander in the cloudy (thanks Gordon) conditions.
I've been listening to all the feedback given to me on other photos, so I would appreciate some more pointers.
Too much processing? Not interesting enough subject matter? All comments are welcome.

All these were taken with my 400D and 18-55 kit lens (trying to convince myself it's perfectly adequate for the moment) using Av mode and bracketing. Most of the images have been cropped from the original.

Well I think they are excellent. 2,3,5,6, especially. I do think that the almost square format crops make these minimalist shots even more interesting myself. Close crop on 8 would probably look great too.

I agree about the square cropping - I think I'll go out with square in mind next time I shoot.
Do you agree that 7 doesn't work as well as 6? I was contemplating ripping out the dock leaves, but I don't think it would have made much difference. I still prefer 6.
