A few from the countryside today

I dropped the Mrs off at Hertford to get a train into London, and on the way home I came across a nice woods.

I took the following:

First tripod shot possibly a bit overexposed due to it being so sunny and me taking in full manual to get the water blurry...

I like the contrast between the bluebells and rapeseed on this one:

One of Laura in the garden (lovely blue sky):

And I quite like this as it has the broken wood in sharp focus as well as the background:

Critiques welcome

I have some more over at my flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/andrewmalpass/

I took a few of rapeseed fields, but didn't post them as steve's ones are better

That last one is good - lots of interest to keep you looking. The portrait is a bit too much sky (though it is nice & blue - maybe nick some clouds from someone else & paste them in). Also, all the background is in focus so you look at that in stead of the person. Try getting her further from the background and using a wider aperture to get the background blurry.

Re: A few from the countryside today

I rather like #2 and #4, #2 seems a little confused in subject but exposure and sharpness are fine

#1 is a bit over exposed but nothing little time PPing in PS wont fix

The "Laura" shot : Im sure fill in flash would have got rid of the shadow

Tobers has mentioned a wider aperture to get some useful Background Blur

A nice set all in all.. much in keeping with the ones on your flickr site

Re: A few from the countryside today

Would number 4 look better if the foreground trees were out of focus?

I changed my mind on my faves

I like the way the stick in this one looks like a road:

Re: A few from the countryside today

I like the 2nd and the last of the first lot. Agree with Senu about the 2nd being a little 'busy' but I think the colours behind pull you through the image anyway. The last is just a nicely composed and coloured shot, lovely.
