Took the camera to work

I have started to take my camera to work with me, at the moment I am averaging about 800 miles a week going to and from work so get to see quite a bit of the countryside
Virtually straight out of the camera, quick crop and resize in photoshop.

Yesterday (friday 20th) left home at 0600 and below are a few shots.

This shot was taken only about 10 miles from home on the mountain rd between Aberystwyth and Rhayader.

This one was still on the mountain rd but not far outside rhayader.

This little blighter was buzzing around all day, when I decided to take a few shots of him/her, do you think it would stay still?

These last 2 were on the way to a mates house.

and one of my first black and white photos

All CC seeked and encouraged

Re: Took the camera to work

They're all good, but the Bee in flight is an excellent capture.
I was trying something similar recently, but gave up with nothing to show.
Did you have to chase him around for long or did you just get lucky?

Re: Took the camera to work

They are all really good.. The Bee is the tops..

Shame you could'nt get one of those big fighter jets that go through the Valleys up there.. or maybe you have?

That would be awesome..

Re: Took the camera to work

My better half informs me it is a hoverfly
I swatted it, tied a piece of cotton to it and hung it up
Only joking I chased the begger round for ages

Re: Took the camera to work

The first is simply stunning. I hope I can get something of similar quality when I troll up The Wrekin tomorrow morning at some ungodly hour.

The second is less appealing for some reason, maybe a tad underexposed in the foreground? Nice mist though.

The waterfalls are gorgeous too, where was that taken? It looks like a 'must visit' place.

Well done on the bee shot too, great panning

I like the black and white shot but the blown sky spoils it for me.

Shh!! They hover stationary and are therefore much easier to photograph, I'd keep the Bee thing going...

Re: Took the camera to work

Some fantastic shots there.

The first one is nice - but perhaps needs a little of the HDR treatment to bring out some detail in the foreground.

Nice waterfall shot to - good exposure.

The bee shot is stunning - I only wish I could have seen you trying to capture that one!

Nice work!

Thanks for all the comments
I certainly had a laugh chasing the bee fly thing around.
I'm thinking of going up the mountain road for tomorrow mornings challenge

Re: Took the camera to work

Excellent shots mwncidur, especially the hover bee and waterfall
Steve has already asked the question but where is that waterfall? It looks so familiar (as does the water wheel) but I can't put a place name to it.

Re: Took the camera to work

The waterfall is just behind the water wheel. both are in Furnace which is on the main road between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth. but be warned if you do go there don't park in the small carpark at the side, that belongs to my mate and it is forever full up of people looking at the wheel and he goes apesh1t if he can't park his van there is a large car park on the opposite side of the road.

Unless i've seen pictures of them before, I must have got it mixed up with somewhere else. I'll bear your warning in mind if I ever go to Furnace and park in your mates car park though
