For those who can't afford a hot-shoe dedicated external flash (I can't) and are using the pop-up on the camera (harsh shadows and red-eye are a nightmare for portraits), there is a product called: LumiQuest Soft Screen. It's a flash diffuser.

It costs about £9.99 and might be the very thing you need to eliminate those horrible full-on shadowy red-eyed flash images.

Just type in LumiQuest Soft Screen into Google or whatever and see for yourself.

Seem to remember this coming up before (maybe somewhere else0) and it got knocked a bit.

I think it looks like an interesting idea. As you say Pirate, alot cheaper than an external flash. Not comparable, but a nice cheap solution while we save up our dubloons.
