Are Jessops still pricematching?

Hi, does anybody know if Jessops are still pricematching?. I want to buy the Nikon s7c but they are charging £300 online, Amazon etc do it for £180. The problem is I am having Jessops vouchers from an insurance claim for my last camera which broke when I dropped it .

Re: Are Jessops still pricematching?

It depends what store you go to, the official line is no. but if you haggle and have bought off them before then yes they will discount. Don't think they'll match amazon but if you print out some prices from UK suppliers like cameras2u.com they should get close to their prices

I got the sigma 17-70 lens from them for just under £230 which was the same as cameras2u.com - in the store it was £280. also got £20 off the 400D with kit lens, again matching cameras2u.com. Lastly got the slingshot 100AW for £23 - in store £69 and £23 was cheaper than anywhere on the net

How much in vouchers have you got? Might be worth selling the vouchers then buying elsewhere

So the answer is depends how good you're at haggling

Re: Are Jessops still pricematching?

My local Jessops said no more price matching as it had cost them too much money, and hadn't generated the extra income & sales they thought it would.

Re: Are Jessops still pricematching?

Hi bubble502, £200 plus I have to take I.D with me so I wont be able to sell them . I was thinking of buying something for £200 then taking it back for a refund, and hopefully get cash back.

S7c is £236 with cameras2u, think Dixons are selling it for £220 as well.

Re: Are Jessops still pricematching?

I bought jessops vouchers off ebay to buy my canon 400D, if they're the standard jessops vouchers you won't need ID for them

Re: Are Jessops still pricematching?

Pretty sure that Jessops & Cameras2U are the same company - they have the same address for their registered office if you do a Companies House search, so given that, they should price match....

Jessops

and

Cameras2U

Sorry - looks like the links aren't going to the right results page now, but do a search anyway and you'll see what I mean.

Looks like Shopping4cameras is also Jessops as well.......

Re: Are Jessops still pricematching?

Nice one Garf some good digging there!! . I found this thread over on digi-darkroom http://www.digi-darkroom.com/showthread.php?p=203782 .

Also spoke to someone on the phone at my local jessops (Cardiff) who would'nt say for sure if he would match the £220 Dixons price. It sounded like he would budge on the price if I buy a 1gb memory card as well (29.99 ) and a few other things.

I will print these threads, take them along and see what they say.

Re: Are Jessops still pricematching?

I was having quite a long chat with the assistant in Jessops (Manchester) today and she gave me details on where Jessops will price-match. Cameras2U, she confirmed, was the same company and so they will certainly price-match what prices are displayed on their website. She also said they would price match any local camera store that had the item cheaper so long as it was in stock (John Lewis are sometimes cheaper for cameras). About websites, she advised that I bring in a list of all of the prices I have found and they will decide there-and-then which ones they will price-match. Obviously, they aren't in the business of price-matching the Hong Kong-based businesses but UK and local stores (even internet-based), she seemed quite willing to bring the prices down to match. Jessops, of course, also has the advantage of quite an extensive and reliable warranty.

Re: Are Jessops still pricematching?

Got my vouchers today and guess what?, in T&Cs they will not price match if using vouchers , even cameras2u which is part of Jessops. So after several minutes arguing with Jessops on the phone I phoned Lloyds (ins company) who agreed with me and offered a cash settlement instead . So I have now ordered my nice shiney new s7c from Amazon for £189.99 instead of the rediculously overpriced £300 Jessops wanted. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread .

Re: Are Jessops still pricematching?

Bought a Slingshot 200 AW from Jessops today and they wouldn't price match cameras2u. Knocked a tenner off. I wanted to walk away but needed the bag for the weekend. I guess they know that there isn't really any competition on the high street (not in Leeds anyway and not for that kind of product) so can afford to play hardball.
