My mate the swan

He's a lovely fellow, no broken arms yet. Not to sure if its too dark, but it was a muggy afternoon. No need to mention the missing feet either!
taken with the 70-210D at f11 1/60 handheld.

Could be worse - could've been a goose!

Tell you what though, until you get close to these beasts you don't realise how blinking big they are!

PS, me and swanny are just off to the pub.

Re: My mate the swan

I've had a swan land on my head. Twice. Psycho-swan, we call him.

It always happens the same way. The menacing look. The hissing. The arched wings as I pass. The belief that I may have gotten away with it this time. Then the sound of great flapping wings from behind me as he commences his ponderous take off run; slow at first, then progressively faster and louder as he approaches... Then the hit.

Heavy birds, swans.

Love it!

My mate the swan wasn't too keen on the pub tonight - reckon we should have gone somewhere other than the Swans Head.
