Hi there

These were taken a couple of weeks ago when we had that snow. Was waiting for it to get dark, so decided to take a walk and see if I could snap anything else. Came across this bloke, and guess what he started to play Summertime , it was freezing. Asked him if its ok to take his picture which in the end cost me one whole pound.
He did ask me was I an artist like he was , told him it was a hooby, well the police soon moved him on, but I sould off asked for my pound back because he wasn't no artest the way he destory summertime .

They don't do a great deal for me i'm afraid, and if i'd have paid him I wouldn't have been worried about sticking the camera right in his face and getting a really good portrait shot. As it is these shots are ok, but nothing special. You have managed to cut his feet off on a lot of them and on the first two he doesn't really fill the frame enough for me. The last one is about the best but it could do with a bit more contast and a boost of the colours as they look washed out.

All my personal opinion so please don't take too much notice as everyones opinion differs.

Thanks Steve I would rather you be honest with me that just post something like nice shot, when I know they are not the best.

Its the first time I have tried something like this, and thinking back maybe I should off been more aggressive (if thats the right word), but like they say you learn by your mistakes.

I agree with Steve - interesting subject matter, but the framing isn't quite right. If you're cropping, crop to head and shoulders, waist up or full body. Leaving the feet off like that just looks a little odd.

You may have been better off getting in a little closer, going down on your knees and shoting up at him. This will create a more dynamic composition, and remove some of the distracting clutter from the background.

Also, try using a larger aperture to throw the background out of focus and help isolate the subject.

The poor flat light hasn't helped - they could do with a little injection of contrast.

I think there pretty good holo.I would echo the previous comments but add that they are a little bit samey.

Try differing angles and height to give differing takes of the same subject.

While having another look at this, I remembered i'd taken a similar shot in London at the end of last summer. Not the same guy, but similar!

While it's not a great shot and I didn't do anythign with it at the time, it shows that getting in close and using a smaller aperture helps to isolate the subject.

As it happens, this one is still a little busy for my tastes, but it helps to illustrait the idea.

Thanks for all the help , lesson leant and will try harder next time .

Am back working in South Ken tomorrow, only have to take a light tool kit with me so camera coming along, lets hope I get some better light
