Got a sony dsc T1, takes great photos outside, but inside suffer bad with red eye.
Have applied redeye reduction but don't seem to be any better.
What am i doing wrong???
Am i expecting too much from a budget camera??

Was thinking of selling & getting a Canon Ixus 6 or 75, but are these any better???
Just need a 'pocket camera'.

Any ideas??

Most compacts suffer from the red eye problem due to the flash being so close to the lens. Even the red eye reduction systems on some compacts only help in certain cases but still don't solve the problem. Some compacts are better than others especially if they have a pop-up flash that will create a bigger gap between it and the lens. Here is a more detailed explaination on why red eye happens.
As I said, some cameras are better than others and I'm sure that you will get some feedback on these from other forum users

Red eye is however fairly easy to fix if you cant avoid getting it in the first place after putting the images on your pc

Sorry mate, if it fits in your pocket you will invariably get red-eye.

The red eye effect reduces when the flash is further away from the focal plane. which basically means you need a flash that is nowhere near the camera. Unfortunately built-in flash is as close to the camera as you can get, being that it is 'built-in'.

You could try using a RIZZLA 'cigarrette paper' to diffuse the flash, or to 'bounce' it off the ceiling.

Or you could turn more lights on to brighten up the room so no need for a flash.

When I was in Mexico they would use a little pocket tourch and shine in into your eyes and the flash when the camera. That seemed to work.!
