Lowepro 100aw sling shot

Just found from another photo forum that Jessops are offering the Slingshot at under £25 + postage.

Got one on order.

Re: Lowepro 100aw sling shot

Anyone got one of these? Looks pretty interesting. Would it hold my Canon 350d, Sigma 17-70mm and Canon 85mm lenses comfortably?

EDIT: Found this site which has some pics with a 350d in the bag (http://www.cambags.com). Looks pretty good with one attached lens, and room for my spare lens and a flash/lens if I get another. Bargain .... thanks for the heads up tontoshorse.

Re: Lowepro 100aw sling shot

Also, if you use quidco, you can get 3% off in quidco rebates and plus they'll give you a 10% discount voucher too Not much of a saving I admit but it nearly pays for the postage.

Re: Lowepro 100aw sling shot

I like mine. It can hold my D50+18-70mm, Sigma 70-300mm and Nikkor 50mm in the main part, and spare battery, memory card, leads, etc in the other section.

It's pretty comfortable to walk around all day carrying it, and you can quickly "whip" it round to get the camera out and take shots without having to take the bag off.

Re: Lowepro 100aw sling shot

Got one of these half price (30 quid) from Jessops when I bought my EOS 400D from them.

I;ve only got the kit lens, but the bag nicely packs my camcorder, digital compact and batteries, tapes etc for all.

V. comfortable and compact. Highly recommended.

Just noticed Jessops are stating normal price £27

Think they've got that wrong - its at least £47 anywhere else!

Re: Lowepro 100aw sling shot

I just tried to buy one and got sent in circles. It would not let me get to the Checkout to actually pay for purchase.

I suspect they have realised it's a mistake and are just preventing the purchase.

*EDIT* Maybe I need a voucher number?

Did you have a voucher number ?
It won't let me buy one. It keeps redirecting me to the basket, but won't let me get to the checkout.

Just ordered one. It wont hold all my gear but might be great for days when I just want to travel light. Hell, if it's no good I can probably still sell it at a profit or at least make my money back

It should do. See the different views and specs here:
http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Slin...ot_100_AW.aspx
I'm sure I read somewhere that it conforms to the airline size requirements for carry-on hand luggage too.

Re: Lowepro 100aw sling shot

Well mine turned up today and I have to say I'm quite chuffed with it really.

I can fit in it the following:

Canon EOS-30D (no grip) - I can just get my 10D WITH grip in it but it is a bit of a squeeze
Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 - attached to camera
Canon 17-40 f/4
Canon 2x TC
Sigma EF 500 Super DG flashgun
Filters
Memory cards
X's Drive

If I wanted I could also attach my Canon 70-200 f/2.8 in its lens bag to the outside of the slingshot although this would make it less swingable.

I must admit that when I first saw it I thought that there was no way I could even get my camera in there but it's like the Tardis this bag, it seems small on the outside but you can fit an awful lot in it!

Result!

Re: Lowepro 100aw sling shot

My bag has just arrived.
I regret to say that it won't take my 70-200 lens.
I was told by someone selling one on the forum recently that it would take one of these easily - oh well, you live and learn.
Anyway, if anyone is still looking for one of these I will be putting it up for sale it a mo.
Just looking to recoup my loss, and as they have just gone back up in price, it will be a bargain for someone.

Oops. Do you mean it wont take the 70-200 f/4 or one of the bigger ones? And is that attached or detached from the camera? I'm keen to buy it if it will do the honours for me - 30D with either 24-70 or 70-200 F/4 attached, preferably with the 1.4X extender.

You wont fit any 70-200 in the 100AW attached or otherwise there simply isnt the room. You can attach the 24-70 to your camera and will fit nicely in the bag with enough room for your 1.4x extender and a lens of around the length of the 75-300 and still have room for a flashgun or whatever else you want in the top pocket.

Like I said in my post you could attach the lens case for your 70-200 to the outside of the bag but there's no way it will fit inside with anything else.

I appreciate your comments but I'll be no better off than I am now.
I currently use a Lowepro Rezo 160 AW and either attach my zoom bag to that or carry it by its shoulder strap.
So I would be no better off. I was looking for a one bag solution so I can just grab the bag and go.
I think the 100 is a great bag and it would hold more than my 160, but I would still end up looking for a one bag fit all.

Got my slingshot today and I really like it. Everything fits nice and snug, with room for a longer lens or flash.
