It will even take 4GB (SDHC).

Glad to see you made your mind up keith and got the 850IS. I'll be looking to get myself one before xmas.

If your after a decent 2GB card you can't go wrong with a Sandisk Ultra II. There a few quid over £30 but well worth the extra IMO. But whatever you do DONT BUY IT OFF EBAY there are far to many fakes floating around, its just not worth the hassle for saving yourself a few quid. (I know there are honest sellers on ebay and I appologise if you are one of them but unfortunatley there are more bad than good)

EDIT: Cheapest I've found it for is £32.99 inc. free delivery from HERE. I haven't used the site before myself but they look alright to me.

Re: What SD card should I buy for my Canon ixus 850

I've just ordered myself an ixus 850 from Amazon. I tried to get Jessops to price match the ixus, but they didn't have any in stock.
I ordered a SanDisk SD 1 GB EXTREME III for £20.48 for it. I thought it was a good price for a top branded card and thought why not? I've now read some further reviews and they all agree that it is a good card, but performance isn't that much better than generic SD cards.
For my current digital camera I have this bytestor and I didn't think it was any better than a 128mb no brand card I bought 4 years ago, hence one of the reasons I have gone for the Sandisk.

Re: What SD card should I buy for my Canon ixus 850

the ixus 850 is a treat, the pictures are top quality, the camera has a good solid feel to it and has a 28mm lens, I did not know which to go for I was stuck between the canon 850, 900 and the canon a710, I went in to jessops for a play with them, the a710 did have a 6 x zoom but the lcd screen was poor and reviews say the flash is poor too, it was not a ultra compact too, the 850 had everything else but not the same zoom, only 3.8 x and the reviews say it is a better camera, in does lack manual setting thought but its ok for a point and shoot.

regards Keith

So you went for the 850 then. Seem to remember spending quite a bit of time on your other post with information and links.

Anyway, here's another one - I get all my memory brand new from these people.

If you feel like it - you can click the "thanks" button on this post, and whenever you feel people have been helpfull.

All the best with your 850.
