LCD Screen Protecters for Canon EOS 400D

Morning All,

When buying my EOS 400d, bloke in jessops recommended getting a set of stick on protectors for the LCD display. I didnt get any at the time (and can see the logic for them) as I;d seen them on eBay for half price.

Any opinions on them ?? Recommendation on whcib ones to get ??

I was reluctant to buy any old one in case adhesive residue on the screen causes more problems than it prevent.

Cheers.

Re: LCD Screen Protecters for Canon EOS 400D

I have a pack of this stuff. I've put it on my camera LCD and on my mobile phone screen. As protection, it prevents scratching etc. On a camera LCD, it will distort your image slightly. Worth the investment. If you scratch your cameras LCD, I bet you'll be gutted!

To apply, use a firm straight edged tool to get rid of air bubbles so that you get a perfect contact. There is no adhesive or residue BTW.

There is some discussion on this subject on dpreview. It seems the protector is fiddly to fit and it is difficult to get all the air bubbles out. There is no adhesive involved.

Canon EF 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM lens for sale.

I wouldn't bother with one. They make the screen harder to see.
The plastic LCD cover that you're trying to protect can be replaced for pennies - it comes out with a suction cup and a new one can be clicked in its place very quickly and easily. Up to you though! The plastic is almost impossible to scratch anyway!

True : but how much? There is a trade off between 100% vision and protection :YMMV

I would love to be proven wrong ( and you right ) but if it is anything like the 350Ds , It is very easy to not just scratch but to mark permanently and deeply. Mine caught the edge of a lens filter and is deeply marked... permanently. Functionally it is not an issue but will no doubt reduce its resale value

Re: LCD Screen Protecters for Canon EOS 400D

I ordered a pack of screen protectors for my 400D (from a german seller on eBay) and they do the job just fine.

Visibility is not affected, though I have one very small air bubble, and it wasn't too difficult to apply it (the seller provides precise instructions). At a couple of quid for a pack of 12 it's a no-brainer really.

I would imagine that some of these protectors are better quality than others... luckily I seem to have bought some good ones. They were also a perfect fit, so obviously made specifically for the job.

The ones I bought were these.

Thanks for all those. I keep seeing the german ones on eBay. Like you say I might try it for a couple of quid.

I have an 11 month old running around, so the chances of accidental scratching is emminently high............................
