Hi All,
I am the process of buying a new camera I currently own a Canon PowerShot SD400 (Digital IXUS 50) which I am very happy with. Then why the new camera???
There is one thing that my camera doesn't do well at all photos in low light conditons.
They always come out blurry or too dark as I don't use a tripod.
I have narrowed it down to either the Sony cybetshot T30 which I have read good things about and a frend of mine has one and has showed some nighshots which look good.
The other choice is the Fujifilm FinePix F30 I have also read VERY good reviews on this camera and it is also very good at taking photos in low light conditions. The fuji seems to have more options???
I am sure I will probably be happy with either one but any help or advice you can give me woud be appreciated.
As you can probably tell I am far from being a professional....

well i have just gone out tonight and bought a fuji f30 and first impressions are very good, will post more views soon

For " low light " the F30 is the best choice in my opinion.

Battery life is also excellent.

Amazon have a good deal at the moment.

Also I have read that the F30 has image stabilisation as well would be keen to hear from any owners what it's like..

The F30 hasn't got image stabilization, it has an 'anti-shake' mode which just makes the camera use the higher ISO settings - 1600 & 3200. As good as the higher ISOs are on the camera the 3200 setting is really best saved as a last resort.

Overall though this is a cracking little camera and one that i've recommended to friends. The new version is due out soon with the added 'Face Detection' system as well.

Thanks for your reply Gizmo I am a little confused though how will the camera produce good clear low light pictures if it doesn't have anti shake?
or when you take a low lighting shot does it automatically set the ISO higher?

The 'Anti-Shake' mode favours the highest 2 ISO settings, but you can manually set the camera to Auto 400, Auto 1600.

The camera gives you a fair degree of control if you want it with Aperture and Shutter modes.

It produces good low light pictures because the high ISO settings are amazingly clean for a P&S camera. Alot of P&S camera your restricted from 400 - 200 down, you can confidently use 800 on this and also push it up 1600. I'd be wary of the 3200 setting though as not much detail is left after the camera's NR has finished with it.
