Are lenses cheaper in Japan?

My brother in law is off to Japan soon and I feel a 24-105L calling........anyone got any idea if they are significantly cheaper over there?

I had a look at American sources and they are about £630 as opposed to £695 here, so not really worth taking the risk, one shipping is added.
Check the warranty is valid in the UK.

cheers, i was thinking they would be much cheaper than that with exchange rates etc........might still be a decent saving though especially as there will be no shipping charge

I reckon about £100 cheaper, but check warranty. Mine should be coming soon, been on order for a week.

i know canon warrant all lenses ,were ever in the worl they are purchased,so you will be ok
