I have owned various basic cameras in the past, and now i would like to get myself a digital slr camera. I don't really know much about photography etc, so I dont really know what a good entry level camera would be.

The main thing that I want to have included with an slr is the ability to record video. This seems to be included as standard with your average digital camera, but i cant seem to find it integrated with slr cameras.

As i only want the slr for fun and to take on holidays etc, it is much easier for me to have a camera that also has a recording feature (even if it is not amazing quality). I'd rather a camera that records than get a camcorder that takes pictures lol.. just because i take far more photos that i do movies.

Are there any digital slrs for under £500-600 that have video included?

Digital SLR's don't do video AFAIK.

sorry, but digital SLR's work diferently to point and shoots, thats why video isnt posible with them. in the same way you cant preview the image your taking on the lcd with a d-slr (i know some have another sensor to do this for you, but i'll not complicate things by going into that just now )

Why not get a really good point & shoot, with video capabilities? or a digital video camera that can also take stills?

I think i may well just get a good point and click, and save up for the slr when i have more use for it in the future

it's not all DSLR's here!
one of the competition entries comes from a camera-phone!
(nothing wrong with that! the image counts not the tool you used)
get a good compact, and still have fun, post some images... we don't bite

I've got a Canon Powershot S3 IS which reputedly has a good movie function (although when set to uber-high quality it chews through memory like nothing else!)

Also features,

- Good zoom range (36-432mm equiv / 12x optical zoom)
- Image Stabilisation
- A comprehensive manual mode to help you progress along the photography learning curve, or the flexibility to simply use it as a point and shoot when in auto mode.

All in all it's a good package IMO

I don't plan on leaving in any hurry
