How to remove "PROOF" from a picture

Hey guys,

A newbie to photo editing...I have a picture that I downloaded from a website which has the word PROOF lightly on top of it. Is there anyway to use Adobe Photoshop or GNU's The GIMP program to remove this? I have the picture and can provide it to anyone via email.

I'd highly appreciate help with this. The picture is of me, and it's an excellent musical promo pic.

Proof is usually an indication that the image is "owned" by whoever posted it until fully paid for.

There are painstaking ways to remove it in PS but no automated ones..

If the use is "innocent" there really shouldnt be any need to remove it as it simply indicates that whoever put it there owns its copyright .
If it is of you why does it have proof on it?

Perhaps if you took it and uploaded it to an image hosting website Proof is meant to protect you , in which case simply email the original via the pm system

The picture is OF me, but not taken BY me. For some weird reason, of the 82 pictures the photographer posted...2 of them had this "PROOF" marking on them. Can't figure it out myself.

If it were my pictures from my camera, they wouldn't have PROOF on them.

Can you please give me information on how to go about removing the PROOF marking on it? You mentioned there are some ways.

Talk to the photographer and ask for a copy without proof on it.

Copyright is owned by the person who took it so you'll need to contact the snapper.

Indeed . it is possible that he ( she?) percieves this particular picture to be of commercial ( or artistic value) and wishes to be credited for it

I agree with what the others guys say - The photographer owns the copyright.

However, if he has made this photograph of you in a non-public space, and you have signed no image rights deal, or model release form, you may have the right to ask him to remove this photograph from the web. Of course, you could contact the photographer and come to some kind of deal.

It would be helpful if we could see the photograph in context.

The weird thing is that of all the 80 pictures, only 2 had this...mine, and another one that seemed kinda insignificant. I don't understand why he didn't "PROOF" the other ones. And I think he got paid by the people hiring our band to take the photographs, so he was supposed to have sent them copies of the material. If he made the other 80 images viewable and downloadable on the internet, why proof 2 of them?

That's why I was a little confused.

Anyway, I'd appreciate the help from anyone in removing the PROOF marking, if possible.

contact the photographer and talk to them, dont expect photographers to help you remove watermarks put on images, theres more than likely a reason for it

it could depend on any contract you entered into with the promoter who hired the photographer

It's not your image to manipulate. You don't own the copyright so just contact the photographer.

It could be a simple case that he uploaded the wrong file for those 2 with PROOF markings. A simple phone call could sort it out and give you the premium quality image you're after rather than a manipulated one.

Here it is ... I used your top as it was the easiest bit to clone - I didn't want to start with your face!!

OK, I feel a little sorry for you agueybana - these guys are giving you no help at all.

So anyway, i've removed the PROOF lettering for you. Unfortunately i've had to remove some other minor detail as well - nothing of consequence.
