Go on, i've shown you mine, what have you got?

I see these fantastic pictures on here on a daily basis, but what len's are you using? i only have 2 others from the kit lens that Jessops sold me the 18-55mm i soon bought the Canon 75-300mm zoom and my latest buy was the Sigma 10-20mm superwide. It's fantastic to be able to change a lens for effect or desired outcome, but i'm guessing you guy's have got some fantastic kit in that bag, go on i've got mine out, show us yours

ps i've only been into DSLR for 4 months so my collection will grow

Great idea for a thread LOL..

I'll have to try and get a photo this weekend for fun. Bit busy this week but I promise to give it a go.

BTW; what lens did you use to take the photo?

I'd say the 18-55 as it looks as though that has been digitally added. Good job though.

Re: Go on, i've shown you mine, what have you got?

Just about to slim down a bit, but this is mine for now :-

We took most of it on holiday in two Crumplers, a Geekstar just (literally) fits into those stupid small wooden boxes they have at LHR!!

Out of all of it, 24-105 is my fav, followed by 10-22, 100-400 & 30 f/1.4 for nice arty shots. The other two + 1.4x + 350d will probably go when I get back from the lakes.

Wow... some serious equipment there!

Here is my meagre equipment!! Excuse the quality but my camera was on the table. This is my camera phone!!!

I didn't put out;

- the portaflash 3 system
- two more tripods in my car
- a butchered Cobra head (used for my smashing bulb shot)
- Rocket blower
- Pec-pads!!! LOL

Re: Go on, i've shown you mine, what have you got?

A little out of date now:

Old:

New:

I've now added a 135/2L, a 100/2.8 Macro, a grip for the 30D as well and have returned the 70-200/$ in favour of a 70-200/2.8 IS L. I suspect the 85/1.2L or the 50/1.2L will be joining the throng within the next couple of months.

sjameson - let me know if you decide to sell the 1.4x TC as I might have that.

Re: Go on, i've shown you mine, what have you got?

Some serious kit going on here!

Makes me feel a bit inadequate with my newly (soon to be) acquired D50 from Magslad.

I'd be interested to see how much cash has been spent. Maybe we could keep a running total?!

No need to feel inadequate Grant, it's a great bit of kit (from a very careful owner ). Will add my pic to this thread when I get a chance, but for now my kit is listed in my signature below.

Tomson, will your 17-55 take over duties of the 28-70? How does it compare? Looks like you may have a gap to fill in there?

I hate the term "semi-pro" myself but yes I do earn from photography. It's not a full-time thing, but I do weddings, PR and some commercial events coverage.

Yep the 17-55 is taking over from the 28-70. I was using 3 lenses to cover the range (17-35, 28-70, 80-200 - all 2.8 Ls) but I can now cover it with just the 17-55 & 70-200. The slight gap doesn't worry me - I can always crop.

Image-quailty-wise the 17-55 shines - It really sharp, and nice and contrasty. And it has the obvious benefits of IS. Definitely worth the money.

Hi - This thread is a real eye opener - You're a bunch of lucky bar stewards ...
I was going to ask if someone could pop round & take a picture of my Nikon D200 & Nikon 18-200mm VRII lens for the thread but then I noticed Radionhead's "Old" & "New" post so this helps me out so here's what I've got ... Paul

Re: Go on, i've shown you mine, what have you got?

I want to go and spend some money, I just don't have any to spend!

I've seen that Pentax are releasing their K10D soon which looks very nice, 10 mega pixel, fully weather sealed, RAW + JPEG capture, advance image processing, image stabilising etc...

I need to spend some time learning how to use my *ist DS, photoshop, lightroom etc... and then I can justify upgrading!

Are there any courses/books people would recommend, I thought about doing a proper course, but I can't commit to a set evening each week as I have to travel with work...

Are there any courses/books people would recommend, I thought about doing a proper course, but I can't commit to a set evening each week as I have to travel with work...
baldrick - there's this free online course which I have heard others recommend if it's of any interest (?)
