Hi,

I have a canon IXUS 30 camera and was was working fine until the weekend ?

It has bnot been dropped or anything liek that, also have charged up the battery till it is full and for a bit longer too.

The power button does not seem to do anything ...

Anyone have any suggestions ??

clean the battery contacts if possible, inside the camera too, check the battery isnt damaged. Try and turn it on from the mains if you have the adaptor. If all those are fine either your power switch is disconnected itself or the firmware is mashed. Any other error without being dropped or water damage will come up on the screen
