Joan - My Neighbour (img)

Ahoy,

This was taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ3 3.1 Mp prosumer jobby. Converted to B&W and PP'd with CS2/PSP X and is an archive photo.

Not quite Bristol Pete standard, but hey!

EXIF in photo.

Nice detail in the face but have you pp'd the background out ? She looks a bit too 'cut out'.

Ahoy Rayfin!

Yes. Once I started the process, the backgound became darker so I just used the paintbrush to finish it off. I agree with the 'cut-out' comment. It was just an experiment with B&W conversion and PP techniques, so I'm not trying to score points, so any comments or citicisms welcome.

Re: Joan - My Neighbour (img)

How did you change the image to B&W, simply selecting greyscale or going in through the Lab colours then making an overlay so you can adjust depth?

Ahoy Scott!

Greyscale, filter, sharpen, smart sharpen, remove gausian blur (at least on this image). Just experimenting with CS2. I haven't a clue about the Lab option.

I also adjusted the exposure settings.
