Hi Gordon

Following kit was used for all photos

1Dmk2n + 500mm f4 IS L USM + 1.4xII + Gitzo 1348 + Kirk King Cobra.

I will put a few more up when I get a bit of spare time

cheers

Great shots! Nice and sharp too.

What shutter speeds do you generally use for these? - the waves look really good.

TOMATO1

I used a shutter speed of 1/640 or 1/800 for most of them.

I set my camera to TV (shutter priority) and selected either 1/640 or 1/800 and that would give me a decent DOF at arount f7.1 - f11 depending on what conditions were at the time. AISERVO (fast setting) was also selected so I could constantly track the surfer (note when using aiservo a lot it will use battery power up very fast) and 8fps shooting speed.

A nice steady tripod and a nice smooth well balanced head so you dont need to support the camera.

final point enjoy your days shooting

Mark
