pixels to large prints

Hello gurus
My son is going to get a DSLR soon for his 13th BDay, probably the D50. As he is very likely to use it in school I (well actually he) was wondering what is the maximum print size he can get with best settings of the camera (6.1M)
Thanks

I was forced (he paid ) to do a couple of A3's for a friend last year of his kids that I'd taken with my 300D and even I was blown away by the quality, for personal use usually stick with A4 as I dont have the wall space for A3

If the file is processed correctly and he shoots RAW then sizes of A1 will be no problem, (I have done A1 and A0 my self and they are stunning, that is with the output done through a RIP to the printer)
you can go even larger if you have the gear, I saw a billboard add that had come from an 8mp camera.
