I've just been out having a play with the macro on my sigma lens. I've taken what I think is a quirky shot. a little bit of smart sharpen in cs2 works well, but I also feel that it would benefit from some sort of frame.

My knowledge only extends to using the stroke tool for borders. I've seen some people use some really effective frames on here. Does anyone have a suggestion for this picture? feel free to edit it all you like, just so long as you let me know how you did it since im hoping to use this as a learning experience.

Its part of a fence that's rusted over years of neglect. I went out to take some crowd shots at murrayfield and ended up taking this as I walked home.

to get a better impression heres a couple of others I took at the same time, although I dont think they worked out very well at all. The first one is no where near sharp enough.

my border is applied by adding a 3 pixel white keyline using the canvas size tool (+3pixels) and then adding a further 47pixels of black around the image using the same method. easy and does the job

Was it handheld? Exif shows it at 1/40, might explain why it's a little soft.

Yep, handheld, braced as much as I could, but not enough. I really needed to have the tripod with me for that one.

I have broken the [img] tags as the pictures piosted are well above the forum limit for embedded images. They need to be sub 200kb.
