Where's My Pictures Gone

I have got a Nikon D50 with a 1 gig SD card inserted. I have taken over 400 pictures and viewed them on the camera.

I took out the card and copied the pictures to my computer via a Card reader.
I have since taken a dozen more pictures and now I can only view, (on the camera) the 12 I have just taken. I have alerted the setting to view all folders, on the camera, but can still only view the 12 I just took.

If I put the card back into the card reader, it shows all 412 pictures. I put the card in my GF camera and it too only showed the 12 I just took.

Any ideas as to why I cannot view them in the camera, yet I can with the card reader?

Cheers

Sounds like the card maybe developing a fault, what brand is it?
As you've already saved the 400 to your PC I would suggest doing the same with the 12 new ones if they are worth saving then re-format the card in camera.
Rattle off a few shots then download via the card reader and then put the card back in the camera and see if you can still view the pictures, hopefully just a glitch.

Did you rename any of the files? I know if I make the slightest change to the file names on my panny fz5, it will not recognise the image in the camera (although it will recoghnise the disk space as used). Change the file name back, and back they come!

This happened to me once and I found that for some reason best known to its self the camera had created a new seperate folder and put the second batch of pictures in there. When you look at the files on the pc do you see more than one folder where they could be ?. If this is the case you need to tell the camera to look in the original folder to view the pictures. Just a thought.

Thanks for the replys
I didnt rename any files or folders.
There was 2 folders when I viewed the files on the PC. Only one had anyhing in it .

I have formatted the card now, so I'll see how it goes from there.

Doesnt solve the problem I know. If it happens again I'll get a new card.

Thanks again

Thumbs down Correct folder setting selected?

Looking at the features on this camera it allows selecting which folder(s) is/are viewed. It looks like your setting is current folder. You need to select all folders for playback mode to see all images on the card.

I do not have this camera so cannot check this.
