See the pic. First attempt at hi-key. Not sure if I like this style of work, however thought I would have a go.

Picture of Mum shot in raw and then this applied -

Saturation down to 0

Temperature to left 2000

Tint – 150

Brightness + 125

Exposure + 75

Shadows 4

Contrast 100

Burn, shadows, 100 brush, exposure 3 on hair, eyes, nose and lips.

Lasoo tool, select feather, inverse, gausion blur, radius 4 pixels to blur the background though low aperture was effective enough.

Lasoo tool, select eyes, feather, unsharp mask, 150, 1, 1 to bring out detail.

Any thoughts. not entirely convinced by it but wanted to have a go. Perhaps a little too much natural light from the right as we look at it.

badly burned out as you say on the left. You should adjust exposure for this.
Also I would ask your mum not to stand so close to the wall, or take the wall out with a white brush. A better pose would help the photo too.

Keep trying, nice to see someone making an effort.

What type of pose? Slightly side on?

Revision bringing out the mid and shadow tones + taken wall out of it. Cant retrieve the part of face burnt out but hey, its hi key!!!

Would have been nicer to get a better outline of your Mums face to increase the contrast between her and the background, but the revision looks good.
