Hi folks

Just took the plunge on the fx9 from Comet at £150

Now I'm looking around for a 2GB SD card to go with it...

I do intend to use it to shoot movies as well as pictures, so I was wondering if I need a fast SD card?

I'm currently toying with the idea of getting a Sandisk Ultra II card off of flea bay. Will this cut the mustard?

Sandisk cards are good. The ultra is their mid range card and is faster than the standard card. The extreme is their fastest. The ultra would do just fine though with that camera, although so would a standard blue one too.

So the blue one should be good enough for best quailty video (640x480 @ 30fps)?

If it is, i'll save a few quid and go for that one...

Yes it should be fine. I suspect the only time you may notice the slower speed is if you use an external high speed USB transfer unit to transfer the pictures to you PC. It may take 40-50 seconds to transfer rather than say 20-30 seconds. The only other time high speed cards come into their own is if you shoot many multiple frames on a high mega pixel camera. A digital SLR can stop shooting 3 fps after say 10 seconds of shooting if the buffer on the camera cannot be emptied onto the memory card fast enough. A higher speed memory card can mean that this doesn't happen until after 20 or 30 seconds of shooting rather than after 10 seconds. It may also be worthwhile buying two cards if you plan to go on holiday with your new toy. It's always best to have two smaller ones instead of one big one incase of problems.

I might look into 2 blue 1gb card instead (don't think the the other half would be too chuffed if the holiday snaps went down the digital toilet)
